With the aftermath of the tragic downing of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 over Ukraine EASA
handed its final report to Violate Bulc European commissioner for
transport.
The
report contains recommendations which address the risk when flying
over conflict zones.
Moreover call for cooperation among member
state and a quick alert mechanism to notify the aviation community to
enable the timely sharing of information and the timely
identification of rapidly emerging threats.
Moreover
the conclusion of the report is that measure need to be taken at
national and European levels to limit the risks posed to civil
aviation from regional conflict zones
“The
threat of terrorism to civil aviation is likely to remain high in the
foreseeable future, which is why aviation safety and security
standards are one of my top priorities” said Violet Bulc.
According
to its EASA statement the report will be submitted to
the Dutch Presidency of the Council of the European Union for action.
“It
is a collective effort: in coordination with the EU Member States,
EASA will put in place as soon as possible a system allowing to
timely disseminate validated information and recommendations related
to conflict zones” said
