Delta
is going to change fleet and has put in line an order of 37 Airbus
A321ceo air-crafts and has a total of 83 A321 orders.
The
American airline believes that the order for the A321s is an
opportunistic fleet move that enables us to produce strong returns
and cost-effectively accelerate the retirement of Delta's 116 MD-88s
in a capital efficient manner.
"The
Airbus A320 family of aircraft continues to be a cost-efficient,
reliable and customer-pleasing mainstay of our narrowbody fleet,"
said Ed Bastian, Delta's incoming chief executive.
The
new airplanes with the sharklets wings offer up to 4% fuel-burning so
this environmental benefit gives to the air-carrier the option of
extending their range up to 100 nautical miles or increasing payload
capacity by some 1000pounds/450 kilograms.
The european plane maker said on its statement that Delta has already in its fleet 165 Airbus aircraft. By the end of 2017, the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Mobile Alabama facility is expected to produce four aircraft per month most going to Airbus U.S. customers.
