Distinctions
for three Greek airports regarding the highest increased in
passengers air traffic for the first quarter of 2016. According to the
press release of the Airports Council International Athens, Heraklion
and Santorini airports have marked a rise in passengers traffic among
500 European airports in forty-five European countries.
For
instance Athens international airport has 15% growth and welcoming
between 10
and
25 millions travellers.
Heraklion
airport made a distinction as welcomed between 5 to 10 million
passengers with rise in passenger air traffic 23% specially in March.
But Santorini airport welcoming less than 5 million passenger for this
year and reported an average adjustment +127.
The
report is the only air transport document which includes all types of
civil aviation passengers flights including full service low cost and
charter
In
addition 16 european countries achieve double-digit growth mainly to
the south and east of the EU as well as in Denmark, Ireland Luxembourg
and Netherlands. But the core market performed below the EU average.
The results of +7.6% for March reveal that the impact of the Brussels
terrorist attacks appears to be contained to Belgium with Brussels
airport bearing the brunt of it -29.1% in March
“All
this means that passenger traffic should continue to outperform GDP.
While
passenger growth rates might soften on the back of already robust
figures in 2015, security concerns also mean that part of the leisure
demand to external markets will continue to shift towards EU leisure
destinations and their airports.” said spokesman Robert O'Meara,
Director, A.C.I. EUROPE
