SOMALIA PLANE EXPLOSION: BOMB HIDDEN IN LAPTOP?

According to "the Guardian.com" British newspaper reports Video footage analysed as part of somalian's investigation shows two men handing what looks like a laptop to the suspected bomber after he passed through security, a government spokesman has said.

CCTV footage appears to show two airport workers handing a suspected suicide bomber a laptop stuffed with explosives.

At least one of the men delivering the item was an airport employee, government spokesman Abdisalam Aato said.
"It was a deliberate act of terrorism"he said. "Investigation are still ongoing".
The suspected suicide bomber was blown from the Daallo Airlines jet on Tuesday, creating a gaping hole in the fuselage and forcing the plane to make an emergency landing back at Mogadishu airport.

It is believed that a laptop like device was the bomb caused the explosion.
The Serb pilot of the jet-liner said that the explosion occurred at 11.000 feet ascending towards 30.000feet but would have been more devastating had the bomb gone off at a higher altitude." At a higher altitude, the hole in the fuselage might have caused more severe structural damage" he said," Because the plane was at a lower altitude, i was able to land it safely".

Furthermore CNN reports that the attack is believed to have been instigated by islamic extremist group al-Shabab, though officials have yet to determine whether Borleh was a direct member.
At least 20 people have been arrested in connection with the bombing, including the two airport workers in the CCTV footage seen delivering the explosive laptop to the suspect.
Somalia's government has said it will tighten security at the airport to prevent other threats.

Vodopivec also highlighted additional security concerns in the Somali capital, including some planes that are struck by gunfire on approach to the airport.     Photo A.P.
"The security is zero" said Vlatko Vodopivec, the pilot who guided the plane down, said."When we park there, some 20 to 30people come to the Tarmac" said the veteran pilot who has made numerous flights to the airport."No one has a badge or those yellow vests. They enter and leave the plane and no one knows who is who....They can put anything inside when the passengers leave the aircraft".

The explosion killed one passenger, Abdullahi Abdisalam Borle, according to Somali officials who did not give further details. A man’s body was found in the town of Balad, 30km (18 miles) north of Mogadishu, according to police who said he might have been blown from the plane.

The Guardian newspaper reports that Borle is suspected to have been the suicide bomber, said a senior Somali civil aviation official, who insisted on anonymity because he wasn’t authorised to speak to the media.

Moreover Daallo Airline is based in Dubai and has suspended its operation in Somalia's capital after and as a result of the accident but hopes to restart them as soon as possible, said Mohammed Ibrahim Yassin, the airline’s chief executive.
